How much would you consider a fair labor accuse to modify a brake master cylinder, and a clutch slave cylinder on a lxx's model Chevy truck at a non dealer store? headerpuncher

Without looking it upwards probably going to accept iii=4 hrs and two men part of the time plus parts. Not to many people know how and nobody wants to any more. I spent $1200 only in parts to set up the brakes on a 74 Ford. Local Les Schwab tire shop won't fix one-time truck brakes unless ALL parts are replaced with new. Well-nigh what the truck is worth. In my shop and assuming everything goes perfect; ( no broken lines or bled screws frozen)
$60-80 for the Restriction Principal Cylinder and 80-120 for the clutch.

Sorry Indy, I actually like you and the noesis you share, simply when has a 70s master cylinder and brake repair ever (and I mean e'er) been perfect. Perchance information technology's considering I alive in WI., but I'm right upwards forepart with customers. This could be an all solar day job and could require a few more parts. If I looked at the vehicle and all the brake lines were flaking, I would probably say the same thing "needs all new brake lines" that's if yous can get them off the brake cyl and proportioning valve.

That is why I qualified it equally I did and you can bet it will probably add together upward before it is done. I am very careful to explain to the customer that this is the case and comprehend my ass.
But if information technology is but a master cylinder, I bet that it could be inverse very easy and I haven't had to bleed brakes at the wheel with a Chiliad/C swap in decades.
I likewise am unaware of a GM pickup in the '70's with a hydraulic clutch, simply there may have been.

It'southward not a pickup, it'southward a sixty serial grain truck.

We put a new Chief cylinder and clutch slave cylinder on it. It is connected to this mail service

The clutch slave went OK.

They ordered a new primary cylinder and it was junk. (see higher up postal service) Got a second 1, it was junk likewise, (something about a bound wasn't heavy plenty to push the oil back through somehow) so they used parts out of the new one and my quondam ane and rebuilt it.

The nib has parts and labor split, and I'm not questing the parts ($500 for parts) (has some brake lines, brake hose, lots of fittings, brake fluid, and shop supplies).

I'm just wondering about the labor ($875). I know someone has to pay for all the diagnostic time spent finding out the new cylinder was no good (both of them) and rebuilding the sometime i.....but I merely wonder if they ate any of that price or if I'k paying for it all.

I replaced slave cylinder on my 68 dump last year in driveway where it blew out.cylinder cost about 70 dollars IIRC. Took about half an hour to replace and bleed air out. Every once in a while things go well. School Of Hard Knock

Aye but, accept it some identify and see if you go it dorsum for 3 times that much money,,....Usually doesn't work that way.For starters, if its a truck the labor(higher than car labor) for one hour is more the cylinder.
