Hello- In the San Antonio Area looking for someone dependable to do a repair on a damaged Transom for my 1988 Champion Boat. Years ago i had the steering cable replaced and the shop didnt seal the bolts when they re-attached motor. All these years i was unaware that h2o was leaking into my transom. The gel glaze finish on the exterior is all the same in good shape but the inside has damage. Whatever communication on where i can get this piece of work done on repairing the hull is appreciated. Thank you Rio

My stringer is getting there!!

Non public knowledge but a vast majority of the time a champ transom can exist dried out and it's good as new. Pull the motor and use two heat lamps fix fifteen inches away for two weeks and it should be good to go.

I understand. We've brought back quite a few that were deemed dead.

Sounds similar information technology would be worth a shot at trying the oestrus lamps. I bet it would work.

I had an 84 Champion that had a soft transom. I removed the trim that ran across the top and drilled six holes direct downward the transom. I and then bought a product called Become ROT. I filled the holes until no more was absorbed. Never had another problem. There is another product out of Florida called Sea Cast. This stuff is a no BS one time repair that volition last longer than the hull.

Hope this helps

Accept a buddy that is in the eye of the sea cast fix right now on his Champion.

Wood is almost completely gone and rotted, Only there are about six-7 layers of drinking glass that were in between the layers of wood. What's the best way to get these out? The wood itself was easy enough with a chain saw to dig out, but the glass just flexes out of the way.

Let me say here, that I am in no way an expert in this or whatsoever other marine repair field. I am one of those guys that tries to do it myself to save money. Non being able to come across what your working with. What I have read most the Body of water Cast, they desire you to get everything you can out of the transom void. I had a friend, like yous used a chainsaw to remove the wood. The layers/flaps of fiberglass should be removed. I would try getting a long paddle bit an identify information technology in a drill an try to break upward the flaps. My fear is that if you cascade the Sea Cast over the flaps of sometime glass they my weaken it. Yous my also want to contact Sea Bandage an get their 411 on the challenge.

Hope this helps!!!

Have a buddy that is in the middle of the bounding main cast fix right at present on his Champion.

Forest is almost completely gone and rotted, But there are about 6-7 layers of drinking glass that were in between the layers of wood. What'southward the best fashion to get these out? The wood itself was piece of cake plenty with a chain saw to dig out, but the glass just flexes out of the way.

angle the chainsaw to force the cut, go almost of the sheet glass out of the way and then apply the saw to clean it upward. I recommend a pr of welding vice grips on the bar simply short of the bottom then you can't cut through. I too took a 1" wood chisel and welded a 1/4" pipe to information technology long enough that I could get to the lesser and tap with the hammer to become the last chip of it out.

you tin meet role of the chisel in this one.

vi layers of biaxial drinking glass on the cap, this is a must practise to seal and reinforce information technology or the seacast will flex.

let it sit up for at least 2 days, mine got 3 in much warmer atmospheric condition, the longer glass gets to cure the stronger it gets.

this is what is hanging off the back now, two yrs later, 215 hp @ the prop.

I did the same affair with seacast.I used a long piece of thick apartment strap 2" bar frome lowes, sharpened 1 end and used that to pause the layers up after hogging out the forest.
weirdest thing I've e'er done

Side by side affair you lot know you will be calling a Dr. Pepper a pop and putting chili on spaghetti.
